Providing sites with suitable climatic conditions
SCHWEGLER has expanded its programme for the efficient protection of bats by developing the universal 1FTH bat roost, which can be installed in woodlands or on buildings.

The latest experience and current findings by bat researchers have resulted in the design of a bat roost with a varied internal geometry.

It incorporates four roosting chambers with differing properties.
The areas in which the bats can hang differ not only spatially but also climatically.

The conical crevice at the front is an ideal hiding place for the smallest species of bats such as the common pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle and Brandt’s bat. The more extensive areas make ideal summer or mating chambers for larger species, such as the serotine bat or common noctule.

The various chambers are interconnected, enabling the bats to change roosts. The aperture in the back wall provides access to the inside of the building if needed.
The most important new development concerns the ventilation system.

This ensures the best possible regulation of the air supply and the temperature, both for individual animals and for larger groups.
The special material used in the construction of the 1 FTH Universal Summer Roost is intended to meet the specific requirements of bats, absorbing excessive moisture, which is released again during dry periods.

As a result a continuously balanced microclimate is maintained in the 1FTH.

A recess on the sides, with a predetermined break-off point, enables several of the 1FTH roosting boxes to be joined together

    Siting & positioning:

    Installation in woodlands:

In young woodlands, plantations and parks it helps to compensate for the lack of suitable hollow spaces in trees and other types of recesses.

Ideally the 2FTH can be installed, for example, on huntsmen’s platforms or on post fences
    Installation on buildings:

Installed, using the supplied bracket to building facades and structures, e.g. aqueducts, viaducts, and also inside buildings. e.g. roof spaces. Also in combination with other bat boxes.
    Cleaning and inspection:

Inspection Self-cleaning. Cleaning is not necessary.

Can be easily inspected from below using a flashlight or mirror.

The 2FTH universal bat roost cannot be opened.

    Interior fittings:

Grooved SCHWEGLER wood concrete and untreated, grooved, plywood. Galvanized mounting

    Installaton on buildings:
    Serotine bat,, pipistrelle and others.
    Installation in woodlands:
Woodland bats such as the brown long-eared bat, Nathusius’ pipistrelle, Brandt’s bat, common noctule and others.
