The field guide has been completely updated and with its robust appearance, water-resistant cover, extensive determination table and fishing overview even more convenient to use. To ensure that the field guide makes optimal fish recognition possible, we searched for the best available photo material at home and abroad.
All over 70 freshwater fish species that occur in the Netherlands can be found in the field guide. These are primarily the 45 indigenous and established freshwater fish species. Three types of hardener are also included, which are not actually freshwater fish, but can be found in Dutch inland waterways. In addition, another 23 exotic fish species ('exotics') - including the widely appreciated roofblei - have been included. The most recent 'acquisitions' of the Dutch fish fauna are the black-headed, marble-ground, white-rounded rondelle, sterlet and the Siberian - and Russian sturgeon.
With the field guide it is not only possible to identify freshwater fish. Information about their recognition, distribution, food and legal status is included for all fish species. The Dutch, German, English, French and scientific names have also been included for all fish species.
