Parameters of swimming pool water and water in spas, such as chlorine and pH, must be measured daily. Even though chlorine is used to disinfect water from swimming pools and spas, its effect depends on the pH value. If both parameters are not constantly monitored, the concentration levels may decrease and a growth of microorganisms may cause health damage. On the other hand, if the chlorine level is too high (apart from the use of chemical products), the water gets an unpleasant odor and can cause eye irritation.
Cyanuric acid is used as a stabilizer for chlorine, especially in the summer months or in heated pools. Control of alkalinity and hardness are equally important, because they keep the water in a balanced condition and they prevent corrosion or precipitation.
With the HI83326, the 11 most important parameters for swimming pools such as pH, free and total chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanic acid, bromine, ozone and metals such as iron and free and total copper can be measured. The meter is one of the most advanced photometers on the market, with an innovative optical design that uses a reference detector and lens to eliminate errors due to changes in the light source or imperfections in the glass cuvette.
This meter has 12 different pre-programmed methods and measures the 11 most important parameters for bathing water quality. The HI83326 also offers an absorption measurement mode for performance verification and for users who like to develop their own concentration-versus-absorption curves.
To save valuable laboratory time and space, the HI83326 can also function as a professional pH meter, thanks to its additional input for a digital pH / temperature electrode. Now one meter can be used for both photometric and pH measurements.
The digital pH electrode has an integrated microchip that stores all calibration information. All pH measurements are automatically compensated for temperature variations with a built-in thermistor at the tip of the detection sphere for fast and accurate temperature measurement.
Two USB ports are provided for transferring data to a flash drive or computer and also as a power supply. For added convenience and portability, the meter can also work on an internal 3.7VDC rechargeable lithium polymer battery.
