Parax Paper is made of 80% CaCO3 and 20% non-toxic polyethylene, which acts as a binder. The calcium carbonate used in Parax Paper is the by product of mining for the building and construction industry. It is ground up into fine powder and bound by HDPE, which comes mainly from recycling. Parax Paper's ecological contributions start at the very beginning: the entire process requires absolutey no water, thus eliminating the possibility of waste and pollution. In addition, Parax Paper's production process uses just half the energy traditional paper manufacturing requires. Parax Paper products will gradually photo-degrade when directly exposed to UV light for nine to twelve months, allowing Parax Paper to simply return back to nature as calcium carbonate, once again becoming stone. It is important to note that Parax Paper will not photo-degrade through the course of normal use. Parax Paper should be recycled with category 2 plastic recycling streams; since calcium carbonate is used as a filter in plastics, it is a useful addition to category 2 recycling. If Parax Paper enters a paper recycling stream, it is classified as coated paper. Finally, it may even be burned to provide energy without releasing any toxins. In addition to all the environmental advantages of Parax Paper, it is crucial to note its beautiful results in offset print, as well as solid and durable converted products.Calcium Carbonate gives Parax Paper a naturally white appearance along with a luxurious feel. The final effects are stunning providing an extraordinary feel with much sharper and clearer images.
