About the author

Phil Richardson has been studying bats for nearly 40 years. Through perseverance he helped to develop methods and equipment that has led to a much greater understanding of these fascinating creatures. Using his famous Northants Bat Group as a model for conservation and scientific study, he has helped to set up county bat groups to form a network across the UK
