This area is poorly studied compared with northern territories of the country, yet the unique semi-deciduous monsoon forests of southern Vietnam are much endangered and require intensive studies and protection. Beside the beautiful photographs, the book gives information on external morphological features, in order to help the reader to quickly identify species of amphibians and reptiles in the wild. The book also contains modernized taxonomy, updated information on species distribution, ecology, reproduction and larval morphology. Photos of certain species and their larval forms, including some newly discovered by the authors, are published for the first time.
