The identification key, the flower diagrams and two colour photographs contribute to an easy determination of the individual species.

A few chapters also briefly describe the characteristics and peculiarities of the orchids (illustrated by various photographs), the ecology, the types of biotopes in which they grow, and the decline and conservation of these German species. Also some hybrids are shown.
