Since the appearance of the first six volumes (1988-2005), the incresing role of the internet and drastic change in the publishing world has made it necessary to think about the future concept of the Flora Agaricina Neerlandica. As a result, we present here a book in a new layout and with numerous coloured illustrations, and, in some cases, refereces to web pages, such as the distributional atlas of Dutch macrofungi. We are also well aware of the fact that taxonomic and nomenclatural information is offered by large database such as Index Fungorum and Mykobank. But of course these sources are not completely free of errors and mistakes.
