Attention! These variants of the Plankton Net 250 mm Frame are the newest plankton nets. These nets have been renewed from June 2025. The older variants are being discontinued and are available while stocks last. Below in the text, reference is made to other products several times. These products have also been renewed and are compatible with the new plankton nets. For example, the renewed tap and the renewed clear extension tube only fit the new plankton nets. The net filters and collection bottles fit both the old and the new variant, and the adapter is being completely discontinued and does not fit the new variant.
These plankton nets have a frame diameter of 250mm and an 550mm long bag. Nets are available with a 20µm, 35µm, 53µm, 100µm, 150µm or 250µm nylon precision mesh bag and have a 50mm screw on filter with the same mesh size as the main body of the net. It is possible to purchase 50mm screw on filters in an array of mesh sizes, just as a 180ml collecting bottle (available separately). Alternatively, a Plankton Collecting tap can be used, allowing you to siphon off exact volumes, possibly made with the clear extension tube, of sample.
The 7m towing line and harness mean the nets are suitable for towing behind a boat as well for use from a suitable bank, jetty or beach. The plankton net also includes weight loops which allow weights to be attached for sampling at greater depths. Please note that weights are not included with the net.
Plankton nets should be rinsed with freshwater after use and dried thoroughly to protect fixtures.
