    Product description

The Longworth Mammal trap with Shrew hole is a trusted tool foor ecological surveying of small mammals like mice and voles. This Longworth trap excels in its construction and adjustable sensitivity, ensuring one of the higherst catch rates.

This mammal trap includes a shrew hole inside of the trap and is therefore the right trap if you do not want to trap shrews.

The Longworth trap prioritizes the comfort of trapped animals, consisting of the tunnel with the door tripping mechanism and a nest box for food and bedding. When deployed, the nest box is inclined upward to protect against rain and promote urine or condensation drainage. For ease of transport or storage, the tunnel can be neatly placed inside the nest box.

    Key Features:

    • Made of aluminium to keep the trap lightweight for field use
    • Designed to allow easy access to all parts for cleaning
    • Choice of stops provide variation of the angle of the nest box to the tunnel
    • includes a shrew hole to allow shrews to escape out of the trap
    • Dimensions: 14 x 6.5 x 8.5 cm
    • Weight: 300 grams

    Trap Assembly

    1. Hold the nest box with the open end pointing to the left.
    2. Hold the trap tunnel with the flanged end directed toward the nest box.
    3. Raise the strut on the nest box and push the small wire lever on the top right side of the nest box to position the larger flap inside.
    4. Insert the flanged end of the trap tunnel into the nest box.
    5. Release the lever held by the right thumb to secure the large flap in front of the tunnel's top flange.
    6. Adjust the tunnel's angle by positioning its rear end in front of the first or second pair of stops on the nest box floor.

The pressure required on the treadle wire to actuate the trap mechanism can be adjusted in the following manner:

    • Open the trap's bottom, exposing the trip mechanism with a tension-regulating spring.
    • Rotating the movable piece on the extreme right clockwise increases the pressure required to activate the trap door mechanism.
    • Note that extreme anti-clockwise rotation will keep the treadle permanently depressed, preventing the trap from being set.
