The BirdMic Complete Pack is a compact and user friendly parabolic microphone set designed for listening to and recording the sounds of nature. This all in one solution is self powered, so no additional equipment is required to hear sounds in real time. Despite its small size and affordable design, BirdMic delivers professional quality audio and is easy to use without any prior experience. Its lightweight construction makes it ideal to carry in a backpack during birdwatching trips, nature walks or field research.
BirdMic is optimized to amplify sounds from 1.5 kHz and higher, making it perfect for capturing bird calls and songs, while still allowing you to listen to and record the full audio spectrum from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The fully analog system produces minimal background noise and can be connected directly to a smartphone, camera or recording device. It also works seamlessly with real time bird identification apps, adding educational value and improving sound recognition in the field.
The BirdMic Complete Pack can be mounted on a camera hot shoe and used as a standard microphone, with the added benefit of real time audio monitoring through headphones. Two built in sound modulation controls allow you to reduce low frequency noise such as wind or traffic and boost weak sounds for clearer recordings. A dedicated volume control ensures comfortable listening. With support for common smartphone audio inputs and optional adapters, BirdMic is a versatile and reliable tool for nature lovers, content creators and bird enthusiasts.
How to use BirdMic:
Simply connect the audio interface directly to the parabolic dish using the included male to female jack. Plug your wired headphones into the interface to hear amplified sounds in real time, wherever you point the dish. To record, connect a smartphone or any other recording device to the interface’s output port. Use the included mounts to securely attach the interface to the dish for convenience. Because the audio is captured directly by BirdMic and not your phone’s internal microphone, using a professional recording app ensures high quality results. You can also pair BirdMic with a bird identification app to focus on specific birds and improve learning and recognition in the field.
How BirdMic works:
BirdMic features a highly sensitive omnidirectional microphone positioned at the focal point of the parabolic dish. The dish design isolates sounds from the sides and rear while directing sounds from the front to the microphone. The microphone captures both direct sounds and those reflected off the inner surface of the dish. This amplified signal is sent to the audio interface, where it can be further enhanced or adjusted using the Low Frequency Cut and Boost functions. The final output is delivered simultaneously to your headphones and recording device, providing clear, professional-quality audio for listening or recording in the field.
