Product description

This wood-concrete BRD-01 nest box for swifts is specifically designed as a roosting site for swifts. The box can be used both permanently and temporarily. House sparrows can also make use of this box. The dimensions meet the minimum requirements set out in the BIJ12 knowledge document for the swift.

The entrance is designed asymmetrically, creating a dark corner that is attractive to swifts. The box can be easily attached to the facade using the included screws. Preferably, place the box as high as possible and in a location that does not get too hot. According to the BIJ12 knowledge document, it is recommended to place nest boxes preferably on a corner or along the gable end of a building, in a cool and shady facade. The front of the box is removable, which facilitates installation, inspection, and maintenance. Swifts are colony breeders; therefore, it is recommended to offer new nesting opportunities in small clusters. It is important that the boxes are clearly distinguishable from one another, for example by placing them at different heights or positions.
