The photographic field guide Grasshoppers & Crickets of Italy allows you to identify the 382 Orthoptera taxa present in Italy, thanks to the over 500 original photos in nature, hundreds of images of anatomical details and updated distribution maps for all Italian taxa. It is fundamental for orthoptologists, a very useful tool for every naturalist and for those who deal with ecological studies or for nature conservation research.
Today many species of Orthoptera are endangered due to different reasons and are included on the European Red List. Generally, when an environment is disturbed by human activities some Orthoptera with restricted ecological niches are first to disappear (e.g. Chorthippus pullus along disturbed rivers).
