The Hanna Instruments HI700 Checker® HC is a compact digital photometer for accurately measuring ammonia in freshwater. With a low-range measurement of 0.00 to 3.00 ppm (mg/L) NH₃-N, the HI700 provides a simple and reliable alternative to traditional chemical test kits and test strips.
With conventional color-based tests, the user has to visually compare the developed color with a reference. The HI700 eliminates this subjective color comparison by using a fixed-wavelength LED and silicon photodetector to determine the measurement electronically. The result is shown directly on the clear LCD display.
The HI700 Checker Photometer for Ammonia LR is designed for quick and straightforward measurements. Operation is controlled with a single button, making the testing procedure easy to follow. Its lightweight, pocket-sized housing is convenient for measurements on site and is particularly suitable for freshwater applications such as aquariums and ponds.
The HI700 uses a method based on the Nessler method, adapted from ASTM D1426-92. With a resolution of 0.01 ppm and an accuracy of ±0.05 ppm ±5% of the reading at 25 °C, the photometer provides detailed measurements in the low ammonia range.
An automatic shut-off after 10 minutes of inactivity helps extend battery life. The HI700 operates on a single AAA battery and requires very little maintenance thanks to its simple design.

Scope of delivery
The HI700 is supplied with two sample cuvettes with caps, ammonia reagents for approximately 25 tests, one 1.5 V AAA battery, and instructions.
