The HI721 Checker photometer for Iron HR is a compact digital photometer for accurately measuring iron in fresh and salt water. The measuring range is 0.00 to 5.00 ppm, with a resolution of 0.01 ppm and an accuracy of ±0.04 ppm ±2% of the reading at 25 °C. The HI721 was developed as a more accurate alternative to chemical test kits and is suitable for applications where the iron content of water needs to be monitored.
The HI721 uses an adaptation of the EPA phenanthroline method 315B for natural and treated waters. During the measurement, iron in the water sample reacts with the corresponding reagent. The photometer then measures the resulting colour reaction and displays the measurement digitally.
Operation is simple and requires only one button. A measurement is performed in four steps: the water sample is added to the cuvette, which is then inserted into the checker and the button is pressed. The cuvette is removed and the reagent is added before the cuvette is inserted again. Holding the button for three seconds starts the automatic measurement.
With dimensions of 86.0 × 61.0 × 37.5 mm and a weight of only 64 g, the HI721 is compact and easy to carry. The large LCD makes the measurement result easy to read, while the automatic shut-off after 10 minutes of inactivity helps conserve battery power. The photometer operates on one AAA battery and features a 525 nm LED light source and a silicon photocell light detector.

Scope of delivery
The HI721 Checker photometer for Iron HR is supplied in a carrying case with two sample cuvettes and caps, a starter reagent kit, batteries and an instruction manual. HI721-25 powder reagents for 25 Iron HR tests are available for additional measurements.
