Veldgids Vogeltrek is made for people who like to watch birds during the migration time or who seriously count birds on migration counting stations during that period. Twice a year the fascinating phenomenon of bird migration occurs. This phenomenon does not only attract many enthusiasts, but also because of the enormous numbers that can come from some species of birds. Sometimes one finds breathtakingly large groups of thousands or more of one kind.
150 Dutch migratory bird species are discussed in Veldgids Vogeltrek. The descriptions cover aspects that make recognition during the trek possible: flight images, distribution maps and sonograms of the so-called "trek groups". Veldgids Vogeltrek also provides a lot of background information about bird migration, the best migration sites and relevant background information about behavior.

Veldgids Vogeltrek also includes an app with bird sounds: the 'BirdSounds Europe' app in which the migratory groups of the treated person can be heard. The authors recommend using this very comprehensive app to listen to the sounds described in this guide. The app contains (at the time of writing) almost 2000 different sounds from 413 European bird species. This will be further expanded in the future.
The Birdsounds Europe app is available for Apple and Android devices and has been reduced in price from € 5.49 to € 2.99 until 1 July 2019, especially on the occasion of the publication of the Field Guide Bird migration.
Veldgids Vogeltrek has been compiled in collaboration with Vogelbescherming Nederland
