Kaleidoscope BirdNET makes identifying and monitoring bird sounds simpler and more efficient. This software combines the species-recognition capabilities of BirdNET with the powerful analytical features of Kaleidoscope. BirdNET is an open-source AI tool designed to recognize bird calls and other animal vocalizations; its acoustic model has been trained on recordings of over 11,000 species from around the world. Kaleidoscope integrates BirdNET with advanced signal-detection algorithms, first isolating audio segments likely to contain animal sounds. Only these specific segments are then analyzed by BirdNET, allowing large volumes of audio recordings to be processed much faster and more efficiently than methods that analyze every single audio segment. The results can be reviewed and verified using Kaleidoscope’s spectrogram display and annotation tools, making it easy to assess—and, where necessary, refine—automated species identifications. Furthermore, the software utilizes the BirdNET Geomodel, which factors in the date and location of a recording to determine the probability of a species being present at that specific time and place. With adjustable threshold settings for recognition confidence and species presence, you can filter your results to focus on the most relevant identifications. Kaleidoscope BirdNET is exceptionally well-suited for researchers, ecologists, and birdwatchers who need to analyze large volumes of audio recordings and efficiently verify automated species identifications. Compatible with Song Meter recorders, this standalone Kaleidoscope BirdNET license allows you to utilize automated bird-call recognition—such as for recordings from the Wildlife Acoustics Song Meter Mini 2 and Song Meter Micro 2—without the need to purchase a full Kaleidoscope Pro license.
Regarding the license and compatibility: Kaleidoscope BirdNET is available as a standalone, one-year license. This license provides access exclusively to BirdNET features for analyzing recordings from Wildlife Acoustics Song Meter devices. It does not include Kaleidoscope Pro functions, such as Cluster Analysis or Auto ID for Bats, nor does it support the processing of recordings from other brands of recorders.
If you already hold a Kaleidoscope Pro license, BirdNET functionality is included in both annual subscriptions and perpetual licenses.
Important: The standalone Kaleidoscope BirdNET license is valid for one year. The license period begins the moment you receive the access link. The license does not renew automatically and is intended for use immediately upon purchase.
