The Hanna HI96822 digital refractometer is a rugged, portable and water resistant instrument designed to accurately measure salinity in natural and artificial seawater, ocean water and brackish water. By measuring the refractive index, this device provides fast and reliable results while eliminating the uncertainty associated with mechanical refractometers. Its compact design makes the HI96822 suitable for use at home, in the laboratory or in the field.

After a simple calibration with distilled or deionized water, the refractometer is ready for immediate use. Within seconds, it measures both refractive index and temperature and automatically converts the results into Practical Salinity Units, parts per thousand or specific gravity. All calculations are based on respected scientific data related to the physical properties of seawater. This makes the Hanna HI96822 an ideal solution for aquaculture, aquariums, environmental monitoring, desalination processes and water quality analysis.
